Hi. This is an "off-shoot" of the Throw a Football Party web site. While the main site is all about what we call football, and our American cousins refer to as "soccer", more and more sports fans outside the US are getting turned on to American Football, especially the great spectacle that is the Super Bowl.
So we thought we'd add a mini-site with a focus on the Super Bowl as a one-off annual event. Like the main site, the objective isn't to bore our visitors senseless with a never-ending stream of trivia - there are plenty of other people out there who already do that. What we're all about is the fact that football (American Football or soccer - it makes no difference) is actually a social activity - it's about having fun with your mates. Whether you're playing on a Sunday morning or watching down the pub on a Wednesday evening, it's a lot more fun with friends.

So yes, we do have opportunities for debate and trivia-swapping via the blog, the readers polls and the fans forum. And there are links (above) to some of the official tournament sites.

But most of the site is dedicated to partying! Whether you're looking for menu ideas for a themed Super Bowl dinner party, or a Vikings shirt to wear, showing your loyalty to Minnesota's finest while you watch the big game in some pub in Warrington... You want to soak up some authentic atmosphere watching the Super Bowl surrounded by US ex-pats in a bar or restaurant near you, or find a link to an on-line in-game betting site? Hopefully, it's all here, but if you can't find it, let us know. This site is very much "by the fans, for the fans". So, the more fans get involved with ideas, suggestions, recommendations and debate, the better it will be for everyone. So if you know a good pub where the Super Bowl is always shown, or somewhere where you can buy cheap shirts, let us know. If you have comments about our menu suggestions please get in touch. So, Super Bowl XLIV is over, with the New Orleans Saints - making their first appearance in the Super Bowl - beating the Indianapolis Colts 31 - 17. We will leave this site up and running, even though Super Bowl XLV is still months away, and gradually add more content to it ahead of next year's big game.

Ideas for a Themed Party

Apart from decking the whole place out in stars and stripes, there are always plenty of ideas for Super Bowl parties.

This year's pairing of the Colts vs the Saints doesn't perhaps lend itself to as many fancy dress options as, say, the Redskins vs the Vikings, but hey, you get the idea, so let your imagination run wild.
